Let’s say it’s Friday evening and you’re planning to have a night out with your friends. You’ve heard of some interesting events, but you’re not so sure which one to attend. Maybe it’s about the people there, the atmosphere or the DJ. Who knows? We’ve all been there at least once in our lifetimes. And here’s the intrinsic problem. We’re all glued to our phones, trying to live for real, to go somewhere, only to realize that we’ve long lost the feeling of the real human encounter.
We all know the cause: smartphones and social networks. But what if we could turn all that troubled alienation among people into something that can help us get together again? Facebook has tried it, Meetup has tried it. And there are a dozen other apps that are trying to do the same thing. Picatic, Doorkeepr, Eventbrite, EventNinja, Ticketleap, Citysocializer, any of these sounds familiar?
But somehow, none of these got the hang of it. At least, Facebook got a little closer, yet not enough. For when you are managing a group event, you need control. You need to assure that your real friends from around you will be there, in person, having a great time beside you.
Here’s where Planster comes to the scene. In just a few simple words, Planster is the app that combines what’s best from Facebook and Meetup. It’s like a Facebook Events on steroids! This beautifully designed app is available for free for the iPhone users. Planster’s philosophy is this: conversations are better when they occur in person, rather than online.
It’s because we are social beings, after all. We do not belong to social networks created online, in spite of the fact that most of us have accounts for at least two such places. No. We belong to real social networks, made of person to person interactions. It is these kinds of conversations and meetings that help us become a better person, not that prolonged gazing over a newsfeed. That is why the Planster app not just offers you the possibility of creating your own events, with details, notifications and plans for you and your buddies, but also explore existing events, apply filters, view details, send and receive RSVPs and, of course, invite your friends.
Developed by Alchemy Technologies. Just like most apps, they felt something was missing from the picture. “We created the app because we felt most people with their extensive social networks online think they have great connections yet they only really talk to a handful of them on a daily basis much less actually interact with the people in their networks On a face to face basis. We want to connect people in real time face to face and bridge that divide between social networks online and the day to day activities of our users”.
